We distributed 40,000 pieces of literature…
Knocked on 10,000 doors…
Deployed 1,500 lawn signs…
Solicited 500 individual financial contributions…
Attended 350 community events…
Hosted 30 house parties…
Engaged in 25 weeks of campaigning…
All toward this moment of truth.
Although we embodied everything and more that a grassroots, people-oriented campaign could possibly have hoped for, our efforts tonight fell short.
Regardless of the outcome, I am proud of the contest that we waged. As a result of my candidacy, this community engaged in constructive dialogue about the role of not only our local political leadership, but also the leadership exhibited by certain local organizations.
As a community, we discussed the role of money in political campaigns and the relative merits of the advantages held by incumbents. We talked about the struggles and challenges facing working families, and the need to reform our government.
Most importantly, we demonstrated that in a sound bite world, civic discourse can, indeed, be intelligent and inclusive.
I congratulate Senator Robach on his victory, and I hope the issues highlighted in my campaign will help guide his representation of the 56th Senate District over the next term.
Thank you and God bless.
